Kisuwi Lessons

Lesson 1 - Pronounciation

Introduction

In this lesson, I will start with the latin alphabet, and then move to the kisuwi cute script after you have learned the pronounciation. When written in the latin alphabet, kisuwi has 10 letters, plus 2 digraphs. A digraph is 2 letters put together to make 1 sound, like "th" in English. The letters are a, h, i, k, n, p, r, s, u, and w. The digraphs are ai and wh.

Vowels

Here is a table of vowel pronounciations.

Letter or Digraph English Example
a a as in father
i e as in female
u oo as in too
ai e as in bed

Consonants

All of the consonants are pronounced exactly as they are in English, except for r and wh. R is pronounced like the t in water. Wh has no equivlent sound in English. It is pronounced by rounding your lips while blowing air at them. It sounds like f and w at the same time. Here's an audio recording of it.
